Lead Fence Installer

Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced and dependable Lead Fence Installer to join our team. The Lead Installer is responsible for overseeing daily fence installation operations, managing a crew, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining a safe and efficient job site. This role requires hands-on experience, leadership skills, and a strong work ethic.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a crew in the installation of various types of fencing (wood, chain link, vinyl, ornamental, farm, etc.).

  • Read and interpret project plans, measurements, and layout drawings.

  • Set posts, install panels, gates, and hardware to company standards.

  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and customer satisfaction standards.

  • Manage job site organization, materials, and equipment.

  • Train and mentor crew members to improve skill sets and efficiency.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges or adjustments as needed.

  • Maintain and inspect tools, vehicles, and equipment for proper operation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in fence installation (lead or foreman experience preferred).

  • Strong understanding of fence types, tools, and installation techniques.

  • Ability to read blueprints, measure accurately, and perform physical labor.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (CDL a plus).

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Must be able to lift 80+ lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Gate Automation Installer / Technician

Overview:
We’re seeking a skilled Gate Automation Installer to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, wiring, troubleshooting, and maintaining automated gate systems for residential, commercial, and agricultural properties. The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical and mechanical experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and service automated gate systems, including slide, swing, and barrier gate operators.

  • Wire and program control panels, access systems, keypads, loop detectors, and safety devices.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on existing systems.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues efficiently.

Commercial Estimator / Project Bidding Specialist

Overview:
Apex Fence and Access Controls is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator / Project Bidding Specialist to help grow our commercial fencing division. This position is responsible for identifying bid opportunities, performing takeoffs and cost estimates, preparing competitive proposals, and maintaining relationships with general contractors, suppliers, and project managers. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, knowledge of construction estimating, and a drive to help expand our commercial client base.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify commercial fencing bid opportunities through online plan rooms, bid lists, and networking.

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and addendums to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.

  • Develop detailed bids, proposals, and RFP responses for projects of varying sizes.

  • Communicate with general contractors, architects, and engineers to clarify project requirements.

  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids.

  • Track bid results, follow up on submissions, and maintain strong professional relationships.

  • Manage awarded projects through the handoff process to operations and installation teams.

  • Maintain organized records of bids, project files, and historical pricing data.

  • Support the sales team in building and maintaining relationships with key commercial clients.

  • Stay current on market pricing, materials, and industry trends.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in estimating or project bidding (fencing, construction, or similar trade preferred).

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, plan takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift), and general computer skills.

  • Excellent math, analytical, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and partners.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 Gate Fabricator / Welder / Shop Production Technician

Overview:
Apex Fence and Access Controls is seeking a skilled Gate Fabricator / Welder to join our in-house production team. This position involves fabricating custom gates, fence panels, and metal components for residential, commercial, and automated gate systems. The ideal candidate is experienced in welding, metal fabrication, and shop production work, with a strong eye for quality and precision.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble steel, aluminum, and iron gates and fence panels based on shop drawings or specifications.

  • Perform MIG and/or TIG welding on a variety of metals and thicknesses.

  • Measure, cut, grind, and prepare materials for welding and assembly.

  • Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, drills, plasma cutters, shears, and press brakes.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings accurately.

  • Fit and square components to precise tolerances.

  • Prep and finish welded parts (cleaning, grinding, painting, or powder coating assistance).

  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety within the shop area.

  • Assist with inventory management and material organization.

  • Occasionally assist with loading/unloading materials or supporting field installation crews when needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience (gate or ornamental iron fabrication preferred).

  • Proficient in MIG welding (TIG experience a plus).
